Deciding to have cosmetic dental work done can be very daunting. In my case, a few of my teeth had become discolored to the point that I was conscious of them detracting from my appearance. As an actor looking to do more on-camera work, the significance of having nice teeth is paramount. But even if I wasn’t performing on television and film, I wanted my teeth to be part of my attractiveness – not “dazzling white clearly fake infomercial” attractive – but nicely shaped and blended with my face and personality. I had thought about doing something about it for years before I finally decided, “now or never, I’ve got to do something about my discolored teeth!” I met with several different dentists to get their perspective on what I should do. I had a lot of questions: How much work should I have done? What would it look like afterwards? How much is it going to cost me? What would I feel comfortable with? I wanted to find a practice that treated me like an individual, instead of just a patient on a cosmetic assembly line, and that was exactly how I felt with Dr.Schwartz. From the beginning, what I liked about Dr. Schwartz was how comfortable I felt in his office, and how frankly and openly he spoke. Very simply, he asked me to look at my teeth and explain what I wanted to change about them. Then he presented me with his perspective on what he could do to make me feel great about my smile again. I understood he was a person who took real pride in the work he does and in the satisfaction of his patients. He was excited by the prospect of making my teeth look their best – and wanted me, most of all, to walk out of his office loving my new look. I knew I was in good hands, and that he was the dentist for me. After considering what I would like to do and what I could afford, I decided to have porcelain veneers put on my four front teeth. The process was relatively simple and painless. My teeth required minimal ‘prep grinding’ – something I know Dr. Schwartz minimizes with all veneers, which was a concern of mine (years ago my sister had a cosmetic horror story with her teeth being ground down to stumps!). Actually, my teeth looked better after they had been prepped, even before the veneers were put on! When attaching the veneers, the final step in the process, Dr. Schwartz made sure I felt comfortable with the coloring of my new teeth, and how they fit and blended into my mouth. He wanted me to walk out of his office thrilled with my new teeth – and I did! Many people have noticed a change in my appearance, and have made comments like, “you look really well rested” – not realizing I had veneers put in. Even my closest friends whom I trust to be honest with me have been quite impressed and full of praise for my new teeth. I would recommend Dr. Schwartz to anyone who is considering having cosmetic dentistry work – you will be so glad that you entrusted him to improve the appearance of your teeth. I feel very fortunate to have found him, and to have benefited from his attention and artistry. Sincerely, Gabriel Grilli May 2007 |
